Objective: Write as many coherent words as possible to create a story with a major theme in set time limit. Can be done in any size group. It's usually done online, so everything is 'honor code'. Sometimes we require each other to send our word wars in just to keep it real.
What Makes Them Awesome: You never know what insane, ridiculous things one's brain will spew forth into their keyboard in crunch time. Provides much laughter and mocking.
Why: Well, duh. It's fun. Word Wars usually happen most during NanoWriMo (national novel writing month, check the link) where novelists are crunched for time and ideas.
General specifications: 1. The shorter the time limit, the better! We don't want anyone to have time to edit or rethink what they type. 2. Do not cheat! Cheating is for losers, and you're just plain pathetic and missing the whole point.
